INTRODRUCTION
Shakela Academy is a Pre-School located in a clean, safe and quiet place at Koteshwor,Kathmandu near SOS.The School has spacious and bright classroom, library with video equipment, a playground with varities of playing things, homely environment and a good supply of Montessori learning materials.
Montessori is a comprehensive educational approach from birth to adulthood based on the observation of children’s needs in a variety of cultures all around the world. This approach is based on the understanding of children’s natural learning tendencies. We focus on the development of the body & mind of the child. The methods and principles set forth by Dr. Maria Montessori are followed for the social, emotional, intellectual and physical development of the child.
We put emphasis on Montessori language and phonics (English), Montessori Mathematics, Sensorial exercise, cultural subjects and practical life exercises. A rich atmosphere of oral language is featured using story telling, reading aloud and songs. Gradually, phonics is introduced and basic Math concepts are explored. The School has wide range of Montessori equipment. The children can also enjoy pool play/ water play during the summer season.
